Senator Alexander Believes Research and STEM Education Funding Should Continue

Science magazine correspondent Jeff Mervis writes on his blog, ScienceInsider, that Senator Alexander (R-TN) believes research and STEM education funding should be exempted from a Republican spending freeze.  This is interesting news, since the Republicans 'Pledge for America," released last week, call for all discretionary spending to be cut to 2008 levels.  Research and STEM education funding fall into the discretionary spending pool of money.  Here is a link to the full blog post that includes Alexander's comments.
